How to prepare your venue for a photo and video shoot

A great shoot is mostly decided before the camera arrives. This is the checklist we share with venues before a production day.

One week before

Agree the goal. Opening, new menu, rebrand, an event, social content for the next month — the goal decides the shot list.

Share references. Two or three images or videos you like, and one you do not, save hours on the day.

Confirm the schedule with your team: who is on shift, which areas can be closed off, when guests arrive.

The day before

Deep-clean glass, mirrors, metal and floors. The camera sees fingerprints and dust the eye ignores.

Check every light. Replace blown bulbs and keep the same colour temperature in each room.

Prepare props and hero items: signature dishes, cocktails, branded details, fresh flowers.

On the day

Hide clutter: cables, menus stacked on the bar, staff bags, cleaning signs.

Keep one person from the venue with the crew to make decisions quickly.

If guests are in frame, make sure they know filming is taking place and that you have the permissions you need.

After the shoot

Plan the release. Content performs best when it goes out consistently, not all at once. Ask for cuts in the formats you will actually post.
